About Sarah

Sarah founded Designs that Cell in 2017. Sarah’s vision for the company was a space where scientists with a passion for art and design, such as herself and others, could combine their scientific foundation with their visual communication skills to illustrate the ideas of other members of the scientific community. DTC has grown to a team of talented post-graduate, graduate and undergraduate students who hold advanced degrees and have experience in graphic design, science communication or illustration. They have designed illustrations for over 30 scientific publications, a handful of books, and numerous grant figures and have consulted for a variety of non-profit and private companies.

She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Bio-Medical Sciences at the University of Guelph before moving to Kingston to obtain her MSc in Biochemistry and Cell Biology at Queen’s University.
